Healing With Red-Light Therapy

Healing With Red-Light Therapy

Introduction

Did you know you could have improved healing with red-light therapy. There are many health benefits from using RLT. Before we get to that we're going to discuss what RLT is, and how it works. Then we'll discuss why RLT is beneficial, and where to receive RLT.

What Is Red-Light Therapy

Red-light therapy is a specialized lamp that is used for therapeutic purposes. It is similar to laser therapy however, unlike laser therapy, RLT does not cause damage or harm. RLT, in a way, simply activates your cells to wake them up. Some warmth is felt with RLT however, it is very low and unlikely to cause a burn or other harm, especially if used correctly. All that is needed to use RLT effectively is to let the light shine on a treatment area for 10-25 minutes. The light works best with direct skin contact however, if the light can shine through the clothing, it is enough to be beneficial.

How Does RLT Work

Red-light therapy works by triggering a reaction on the cellular level. This trigger stimulates the cells, causing them to create more energy. Since the cells have more energy, they are able to function more efficiently to heal or replace old or damaged cells that may be causing pain or taking more energy to heal. If there are old or damaged cells, this may cause pain or feelings of low energy. RLT helps solve these problems so you feel more energized and have shorter healing times.

Why RLT Is Used

Here’s a list of the possible health benefits from red-light.

Where/When To Use RLT

Sound Balance Physical Therapy (SBPT) is now offering RLT.  Here at SBPT we focus on treating the whole person and RLT allows us to treat our patients from the inside out. Adding RLT as a service gives us another dimension of healing that sets us apart from most other physical therapy clinics. Your therapist will set the light between 12-24 inches from the treatment area for 10-25 minutes. Your initial session may be shorter.

This therapy can be purchased as a add-on service to go along with one of our wellness treatments. If used as an add-on, you can have the light on while enjoying a stretch session or massage and leave our clinic with an even great sense of rejuvenation. It is not required however, we will have complimentary eye masks to make your treatment more comfortable in case the light is too bright for your eyes.

Conclusion

Red-light therapy is a specialized lamp that is used to therapeutically improve your skin and healing. This is done by activating your cells and stimulating them to make more energy and ultimately function more efficiently.
